What is Profhilo® used for?

How does Profhilo® work?

Profhilo® contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market but is not a dermal filler or a wrinkle-relaxing injection. It works as a “bio-remodeller,” stimulating natural healing processes within your body. The treatment hydrates your skin and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin (neocollagenesis). HA, a naturally occurring substance in our skin, joints, and connective tissues, retains and binds moisture to the skin, aiding collagen production, which Profhilo® enhances.

How is Profhilo® different from HA-based dermal fillers?

Unlike HA-based dermal fillers, Profhilo®’s ingredients are thermally-bonded rather than chemically-bonded, making it perfect for hydrating the skin rather than filling smaller areas. Profhilo® is a runnier, gel-like substance that spreads out smoothly and is absorbed within a 2cm radius of the injection site, requiring no massage and leaving no lumps or nodules. Typically, just 10 injections with ultra-fine needles are needed to treat the entire face.

Is Profhilo® safe to use?

Profhilo® is safely metabolized by the body since HA occurs naturally and the product contains no synthetic chemicals. There are no known long-term side effects. In the short-term, some people may experience bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection sites, which self-corrects within a few days.

Can anyone have treatment with Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or for individuals allergic to hyaluronic acid.

What does the treatment involve and how long do Profhilo® results last?

A Profhilo® treatment takes between 10 and 30 minutes. Our Aesthetics Nurse Practitioner injects just below your skin’s surface at approximately 10 points in your face. Different areas like hands, neck, or décolleté may need different amounts. You will notice more hydrated and luminous skin within three to five days. A second treatment is needed four weeks later, with the maximum effect seen two months after the second treatment, lasting approximately six months. Follow-up treatments can maintain results.

Does Profhilo® require any downtime?

Profhilo® requires minimal downtime. After 30 minutes, you can resume normal light activities, including driving. Avoid wearing make-up for 24 hours and strenuous physical exercise for a day. Avoid saunas, steamy baths, and intense sun or UV light for three to four days.

Can Profhilo® achieve a non-surgical facelift?

Profhilo® gently lifts and tightens loose skin, creating a subtle, natural-looking but transformative effect. It is not as drastic as a surgical facelift but significantly improves skin radiance, smoothness, and hydration. Profhilo® can be used alone or in conjunction with other aesthetic treatments like dermal fillers, laser treatments, or wrinkle-relaxing injections.
